You may have heard of a hydroponics gardening system before this, in which case youll understand what Im talking about. If you havent heard about hydroponics gardening, dont worry. Hopefully by the time we reach the end of this article, you will have a clear idea of what a hydroponics garden is, and if someone asks you whether you think a drip system, or an ebb and flow system is better, then you wont have to squint at them and say eh? in that confused way.
Before we get on to the subject of drip, and ebb and flow systems, lets take a crash course in hydroponics gardening.
Coming from the Greek words hydro for water, and ponics for labor, the word hydroponics in gardening terms is used to specify a type of gardening that doesnt have its roots in soil, if you will forgive the pun. This soil-free type of gardening depends entirely on a water based system that is enriched with nutrients.
These nutrients can either be in the form of specially formulated chemicals for hydroponics gardening, or they can come as a variety of natural nutritional ingredients found in nature itself. The use of either nutrient form is solely dependent upon the gardener.
Since hydroponics gardening is a soil free system, containers are the best methods for growing, and a number of different varieties of containers, and pots are available to buy.
As a growing medium for the plant, something for it to get its roots into, different gardeners will have different likes and dislikes. Shale is a simple and easy solution, especially for the first time gardener. With a little bit of research however, you can easily find out if Hydroton or Rockwool is a better growing medium for you than shale would be. (Hydroton and shale can be used in an ebb and flow system, whilst horticultural Rockwool can be used with just about any system).
'Any system referring to methods used to pass along the nutrient enriched water to the plants. Again there are many options for the hydroponics gardener to choose from, but I will explain here only the two systems that I mentioned earlier.
Simply put, the ebb and flow system uses a pump to respectively flood and then drain your containers at regular intervals. The drip system uses a continuous drip that supplies a steady ration of water solution thats right for each plant.
Also it should be noted that hydroponics gardens have a higher growth rate, and many gardeners take advantage of this to create high yield vegetable and fruit gardens.
Now that you now what hydroponics gardening entails to a large extent, with a little more research you should be able to set up your own hydroponics system, and keep yourself year round in fresh fruits and vegetables!

Bugs can be a real pain to growers that have plants in enclosed environments like greenhouses and grow room, and that?s because the predators that normally keep bugs under control are increasingly thin on the ground due to their natural environment thats becoming increasingly rare, and some have been all but wiped out from decades of harmful chemical pesticides thats been used, like the main predator to the red spider mite ?Phytoseiulus persimilis.? 
The fact that nutrient film technique hydroponics has many advantages including that the roots of the plant have constant access to oxygen and that the plants have access to as much or as little water as they need. 
Depending on the height or distance your water nutrient solution need to travel, take my vertical NFT hydroponics system for example, the height of which the water needs to travel is two meters, so a 1000 Litres an hour water pump is just right for the job, but say you'd like to build a Homemade Aeroponics System then a 1000 pump would be underpowered 
Choose a Tank that?s no higher than your lowest gully, and of course it need to be light proof to prevent algae growth and also large enough for lots of nutrient enriched water.
Because NFT hydroponic systems are so susceptible to pump and other failures, I use spreader mating that?s used in bench top growing to soak up excess water and to help with stopping plants from falling over, as plant roots grow into the felt of the matting, so its ideal for NFT systems as a fail safe, if placed in the bottoms of the NFT channels it will help eliminate any dry spots accruing as the roots grow within the growing channels, as the roots grow, some damming of the water solution may accrue, and at least this felt will help with damming and dry point, also pump failure. 
All rock wool fiber has a high PH value, which if not balanced to your hydroponic nutrients solutions PH value before use, will throw you your hydro fertilizer off wake, after water has been circulating for a while ?above 6.5? so soak in a water solution of 3.5 Ph, over night in a bucket first, then squeeze out the excess water before installing, or alternatively circulate your NFT hydroponics system over night fist. 
If your looking for an indoor vertical hydroponics system and your feeling super flush, then theres always the option of one of theses very cool lookin fellows, there also a very good space saver,my local hydro shop has one on display, and i always feel like a kid hopping for one in my stoking ;( 
The benefits of silicon to plants has been known for many years within the horticultural world and is one of the most abundant elements in soil, and is essentially the main substrate for almost all plants. 
Test strips-litmus paper are the cheapest way to checking values, although the slit color change on the paper when testing makes them hard to read, but will gives you a good ball point figure to work with.
